Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between cowhide and kangaroo leather?

Kangaroo leather is thinner, lighter, and more supple than cowhide. It can reduce a suit’s weight by up to 3 kg, depending on the rider’s size. It is slightly more susceptible to abrasion, but many championship riders choose it for its lightness and comfort.

How do your suit models differ?

BLACK EDITION comes in standard sizes with a fixed black design.

Sponsor logos are available as an optional extra.

ROAD MERCURY and MXRD use preset designs with your choice of colors. Sponsor logos are available as an optional extra. See each product page to compare the designs.

ROAD GP offers a fully custom design, including colors and logos.

MATT RACING brand logos cannot be moved or removed.

Do the suits include a back protector?

Yes. Each suit has a removable back protector in the lining: CE Level 1 for BLACK EDITION and fitting suits, and CE Level 2 for custom suits.

If you have a Tech-Air or In&Motion-type airbag vest with a built-in back protector, we recommend removing our back protector from its slot.

For track days, we recommend bringing a rigid back protector worn with shoulder straps or webbing, as requirements vary by organizer and track. If you use a back protector with shoulder straps, we recommend removing our back protector from its slot.

What does CE AAA certification mean?

The CE AAA standard is the highest standard for protective gear. MATT RACING is proud to be one of the first brands to achieve this standard for customizable gear.

What if my final custom suit does not fit correctly?

The initial fitting suit helps us check your measurements and refine the fit before making your final custom suit. We strongly recommend riding in it to break in the leather and give us useful feedback.

If your final custom suit does not fit correctly, MATT RACING will cover the necessary alterations. You must contact us within 14 days of receiving it, after riding in it and breaking in the leather.

We will ask for measurements to assess the issue before arranging the adjustments.

Can my fitting suit be altered?

The fitting suit is used to check your measurements and refine the fit of your final custom suit. If you would like the fitting suit itself altered, we can provide a quote at a reduced rate.

Can my suit be altered if my measurements change?

Depending on your needs and what is technically possible, we can provide a quote at a reduced rate for alterations or a new suit with the same design. Email your request and photos to contact@matt-racing.com.

I already own a made-to-measure MATT RACING suit. Do I need another fitting suit?

If you already own a made-to-measure MATT RACING suit, the fit still works for you, and you do not want another fitting suit, you can benefit from a lower price. Contact us through the chat to discuss your options.

Which two-piece motorcycle leather suit should I choose for street riding and track days?

A two-piece leather suit gives street riders the versatility of a jacket and pants that zip together, while also suiting occasional track days. BLACK EDITION has a fixed all-black look. ROAD MERCURY and MXRD let you choose colors; ROAD GP offers a fully custom graphic design. If most of your riding is on a racetrack, compare our one-piece suits as well. Every MATT Racing leather suit is CE AAA certified.

Can I customize a two-piece motorcycle leather suit?

Yes. Customization is for everyday riders, not only professional racers. Pick colors and logos on ROAD MERCURY or MXRD, or create your own graphic design on ROAD GP. BLACK EDITION keeps its black design, with optional logos. For U.S. and other international customers, our customizable two-piece suits use our made-to-measure fitting process.

Are your two-piece suits CE AAA certified and compatible with In&motion and Tech-Air?

Yes. Every MATT Racing leather suit is CE AAA certified, and all our two-piece suits are compatible with In&motion and Alpinestars Tech-Air airbag systems. Tell us which system you use when choosing your suit so we can confirm the right configuration. Our integrated HELITE option is available on one-piece models, not two-piece suits.

How does made-to-measure fitting work for U.S. orders?

We help you take detailed measurements, then make and send a first leather fitting suit. Wear it in your riding position and tell us how you want it to feel. Together we refine the measurements and fit before producing your final customized suit. This process gives riders of every body type a guaranteed tailored fit. Adjustable standard sizing is currently offered in Europe, not for international orders.
